Nomination Procedure for Incoming Students

Partner Universities please, nominate your students by filling out the Google form which will be sent to you via email. If you have not received the steps for nomination, please, email us to: crint.poli@usp.br.

Nomination / Application Deadlines

First Semester: February/March to June

Nomination: October 10th

Application Forms: October 31st

 

Second Semester:August to December (Spring Semester)

Nomination: April 10th

Application Forms: April 30th

 

*It is important to address that, for the Cooperative courses of Chemical Engineering and Computer Engineering, the timetable is divided into quarterly (4 months modules) and the classes start in January, May, and September. In these cases, the deadlines for nomination/application remain the same.

Application Instructions: Required Documents

Application:

Once the student has been nominated by their home institution, they will receive an automatic email from Mundus System, requiring them to apply online. 

ATTENTION: it is mandatory to click on “Send (Enviar)” in order to complete the application.

 

Additional information:

  • The Nomination Letter (Carta de Nomeação) must be signed by your Home Institution before being uploaded.
  • Any doubts or issues can be sent to the email address: crint.poli@usp.br
  • All the documents must be in PDF format, except the Photo, which must be in JPEG.
  • It is important to observe that Poli (Escola Politécnica) does not offer work experiences and training in companies to non-degree incoming students. We offer only research internships for them. 
  • Double Degree students can do internships in companies.

An introduction to Portuguese language

It is highly recommended that exchange students take Portuguese classes before coming to Brazil.

Living in a new country with a different culture, habits, and learning experiences is a broad challenge. This course is fundamental for students in the USP Exchange Program, since it will teach them important foundations on how to live in São Paulo, with Brazilians, enjoy the experience in Brazil, and much more!

Required Documents

Standard Documents (required for all candidates):

  • Nomination Letter: must be signed by your home instituition

  • Escola Politécnica of USP Application Form (fully filled):

  • Application Form  

    (Word Format) / (PDF Format)

  • CURRICULUM VITAE, of the candidate, in Portuguese or English (1-2 pages), consisting of a photo, full name (name, middle name(s), and surname), email address; date and place of birth, home address, contact phone number. Do not forget to include areas of expertise, distinctions, possible participation in Students Olympiads, contests and prizes, scholarships (with the duration of the project), professional and academic experiences, as well as any participation in social and civic projects.

  • STAMPED AND OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS, issued by the student’s home university. This document needs to highlight the academic paths that the candidate is attending (from the start of their undergraduate course) and must include the names of the courses, as well as the number of credits and results of the candidate.

  • Photocopy of passport or identity card.

  • The student photo (in JPEG format).

 

Mandatory Additional Documents for Non-Degree Exchange Students:

 

Mandatory Additional Documents for Double Degree Students:

  • STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/MOTIVATION LETTER (in Portuguese or English – 1 or 2 pages). The candidate must write their motivation letter to justify their choice to conduct part of their studies in Brazil, specifically at Escola Politécnica of USP. They must also address specific contents from previous studies, as well as, demonstrate the benefits of the exchange will bring for their future career.

Learning Agreement and Study Requirements for Non-Degree Incoming Students

The student’s study plan must be established and approved by their home University, which shall issue and sign the Learning Agreement. Then the study plan must be officially accepted and approved by the program coordinator at Poli. The Learning Agreement must contain, at least, a total of 12 credits per semester, or, at least 3 courses offered and taught at Poli.

Changes to the Initial Learning Agreement

It is important to state that we cannot guarantee the registration to all of the courses proposed by the student’s Learning Agreement, due to limited spots available to each course. Any changes can be made one or two weeks after the beginning of the classes.
